Shoeniversity at Equipage Boot & Shoe Company
We are Ireland’s newest, bravest, most pioneering shoe company producing handmade dynamic footwear for world markets. We are also passionate about reviving the lost art of artisan shoemaking, so alongside Equipage, Shoeniversity is our atelier based footwear training business where we we offer a range of learning opportunities in footwear. Train with expert shoe makers and designers to make your own shoe ranges, both professional and leisure based courses are available. We have experience of training in industry, in higher education and with organisations such as the United Nations.
It's all about the skills! Shoeniversity is the name given to the education and training wing of Equipage Shoes. Shoeniversity bases its training on the 19th Century method of training people in Couture. We are unique to Ireland and uniquely Irish. Visitors from far and wide are very welcome and the area is a popular tourist destination. Our courses held in the beautiful, inspiring setting of The Garden Folly, Creamery House, Castlecomer, County Kilkenny, range from half day leisure courses to 16 week intensive technical shoe design and manufacture training.
We also offer bespoke courses and one-to-one tuition for Fashion Industry professionals such as footwear buyer’s courses or professional design skills based training courses. Our portfolio of courses will be introduced over a phased period and develop over the first two years. We are planning to validate/accredit some of our training and have already started this process.
The real beauty of a Shoeniversity course is that you leave with footwear that you have made yourself.
